I am an autodidact, freelance garden historian without academic education in the field. But the research for my book ÓHager til lyst og nytteÓ about the development of Norwegian gardens in relation to European garden history led to extensive reading on the subject. It also resulted in several assignments as a consultant in connection with the restoration of historic gardens in Norway. At the moment this includes the parc and gardens at the manors of Bogstad, Frogner and Eidsfoss, the vicarage gardens at Porsgrunn and Spydeberg, the Universitety garden in Oslo, and the parc of the Norwegian Agricultural University at �s. During the past two years I have also been engaged in registrating and collecting old roses and perennials for the Genetic Heritage project.
