Call for Abstracts: The Open-Air Museum in Theory and Practice

The FORUM for Garden History Research (FORUM för trädgårdshistorisk forskning) invites abstracts to be included in the  international research seminar The Open-Air Museum in Theory and Practice

Venue: Fredriksdal in Helsingborg, Sweden

Date: Friday October 28, 2016

To this seminar we welcome contributions with a wide scope on the theme to discuss the open-air museum and its gardens as representations of, and storytellers about, the past, their roles today and in the future as well as how research on gardens can be incorporated in the maintenance and conservation. The programme will include two keynote lectures and 3-4 abstract presentations (about 20 mins) selected from this call. Abstracts should be max 2000 characters, signed with name and title (if any) and affiliation. Send the abstract together with a short CV to Anna.Jakobsson@slu.se before May 23, 2016. The abstract selection will be announced in June.

·        Dr Danae Tankard, Historian, Weald & Downland Open Air Museum West Sussex, UK

·        Katarina Frost, President of the Association of European Open Air Museums, Museum Director and Garden Archaeologist

Note to participants: the preliminary fee for the seminar will be approx. 500 SEK, including lunch and coffee. More info about registration will be sent out in June. For now: mark October 28 in your calendar. Those of you who are not members of FORUM and will not send us an abstract but are interested in participating anyway, can send us an email (anna.jakobsson@slu.se) and let us know.
